Another festival to add to your bucket list, which is in its debut year is Spectrum Now festival.

Spectrum Now claims to “celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of music, film, books, theatre, dance, contemporary art and design” and is launching tonight at The Domain. Spectrum Now is presented by ANZ and features over 150 exhibitions, gigs, talks, performances and events over the next three weeks.

From March 11-22, the festival will see The Domain transformed into the Spectrum Playground: a “creative pleasure garden” with outdoor galleries and sculpture installations, markets, food stalls and much more. It is essentially a place where artists can express their imaginations and let loose their creative spirit – all to mesmerise and inspire local Sydney siders.

Many of the plays, galleries and installations are free and support local artists by getting showcasing their work, and helping to get their name out there.

The Nosh Pit is a food-lover’s paradise with scrumptious delicacies from the likes of LP Quality Meats, Mary’s, Daniel San, Bondi’s Best, Gelato Messina and N2 Gelato assembled in the one deluge of treats.

The Golden Age Cinema will be hosting ‘Hollywood Nights’, displaying such beloved classics as Ghostbusters, Singing in the Rain and Picnic at Hanging Rock.

The Hendricks Parlour of Curiosities each night will feature intimate gatherings, performances and theatrical experiences that will enchant and mystify.

Spectrum Now also boasts of hosting a stellar lineup of upcoming local musicians, including but not limited to: SASKWATCH, Steve Smyth, Cabins, DZ Deathrays

The Full Spectrum talk series provides a diverse and inspiring set of discussions, panels and performances including conversations with Jeffrey Tambor, Cate Blanchett, Peter FitzSimons, Kate McClymont and many more.

And if that weren’t enough, as part of the Spectrum Now festival Alan Rickman is heading to Sydney for a Q & A session at the screening of his new film, A Little Chaos, and the Art Gallery of NSW will be hosting a whole suite of special events such as a sensory and immersive Opera experience, Orfeo Ed Euridice.

The Sydney Morning Herald columnist, and creative director Richard Roxburgh has said of the festival, “Sydney has one of the most rich and diverse artistic communities in the world. At Spectrum Now we will be showcasing that entire community and encouraging them to join us in bringing a degustation of delights to the people of Sydney,” Roxburgh said.

Spectrum Now is presented in partnership with ANZ and CEO Phillip Chronican says ANZ is excited to be part of the team to bring this festival to Sydney. “We have a long history of supporting arts and culture, and we are excited to be a part of such a compelling program, that gives Sydneysiders the opportunity to immerse themselves in art, music and culture for the month of March” Mr Chronican said.

Head to the Spectrum Now Program for more information or to book tickets to any of these incredible cultural events.

Today the incredible lineup to Sydney’s most mysterious and magical weekend festival was announced – much to the delight of the lucky ticket holders of which there can be no more. Tickets to this year’s Secret Garden festival, which is being held on 27-28 February 2015, sold out last week and now they have released the heavily anticipated lineup. Among a huge list of big and up-and-coming names attendees can look forward to seeing New York’s Sharon Van Etten, Parquet Courts, Client Liaison, Japanese Wallpaper, Willow Beats, Sydney’s folk rock trio Little May, the Griswolds, Gang of Youths, Rolls Bayce and heaps more.

Synth lovers can look forward to dancing along to the tunes of Hot Dub Time Machine, Fishing, Donny Benet, San Holo, Purple Sneakers DJs, Stereogamous ft. Shaun J. Wright and LUCIANBLOMKAMP.

Hip-hop fans will be serenaded by the likes of Remi, Baro, Milwaukee Banks and Canadian producer Lunice. The extensive folk, roots and country genre includes Pepa Knight, Heather Woods Broderick, Steve Smyth, Jeremy Neale, The Morrisons, Wintercoats, Stolen Violin and Luluc.

Secret Garden is a boutique music festival located just north of Sydney with two aims: to provide the most exciting and unique weekend festival and to raise money for charity. Last year Secret Garden raised $100,000 for heaps of charities including Oxfam, Sarah Hilt Foundation and Boys Brigade. And once again the festival is committing to donate all profits from ticket and bar sales to a suite of charities.

Secret Garden is essentially a wonderland for big kids. Founder Clare Downes and her partner began the event with the idea of hosting a big party for their friends filled with joy, surprise and excitement. 5000 people also wanted to join in on the fun and thus the creative and fantasy-filled festival was born. The creative team behind Secret Garden want visitors to walk away from the weekend and feeling energised and excited about life.

Although tickets are sold out, there still might be opportunities to volunteer at the festival, so keep an eye on the Secret Garden Festival website for more information and for your chance to be a part of the Secret Garden magic.
